Was the PFA formed to get pole fitness in the Olympics?
Obviously, the PFA is interested in seeing Pole Fitness recognized everywhere as a legitimate sport, appreciated for the grace, training, and talent of its performers, who dedicate years to mastering aeriel arts, and encourages and supports any efforts like the petition to have pole dancing as a demonstration sport at future olympic games.
That being said, there are a few things that would need to be done before Pole Fitness could be a demonstration sport in the Olympics:
1. It would need to be proven that there is a dedicated global following for the sport (thats the reason for this petition.)
2. Skills/movements and technical specifications for movements will need to be defined and internationally standardized.
3. A single international governing body would need to be formed with with a charter to standardize the rules of competition, adhere to IOC anti-doping rules and testing.
The PFA's charter is to be the globally recognized authority on pole fitness – focused on professional instructors, trainers and studios – and the PFA would be well positioned and qualified to address the needs of the International Olympic Committee as the movement to validate our sport gains momentum. |
